Meeting Kate Kindersley - Founder of Hadeda

I have been a fan of Hadeda for several years so I am thrilled to introduce the brand to Seraphina subscribers. Kate and I both set up our businesses to celebrate and champion the skills of local artisans; hers from Africa and mine from India. We remain as passionate about this today as when we started. Read below Kate's journey, what she likes to wear on Christmas Day and what Hadeda pieces she will be using to decorate her beautiful home this festive season.

It came about when we were living in Tanzania, I was working as an interior designer doing up homes in Dar es Salaam sourcing local product and I realised how many incredible makers and creatives there were around me. I wanted to show these talented artisans to the rest of the world, which is where Hadeda began its journey.
I am quite spoilt for choice but these are my favourites;
Our beaded eggs on the Christmas tree created by the talented artisans from Mdukatshani in Kwasulu.

The Baba tree placemats which have been hand woven by a single artisan in Ghana from natural Veta Vera grasses.

The new Woven Tea Tray in Aubergine woven in Malawi and painted in our seasonal colours.

Our traditional single seater in natural, perfect for a big family gathering and long Christmas lunches, the ultimate chair to sit back and relax in.

Natural, handmade, classic

I  love to get dressed up. A dress and heels I feel you can never go wrong with, I will be wearing my favourite velvet slippers from Olivia Morris this year- comfort whilst looking dressy at the same time, perfect!

The pleat cuff dress in berry florals because it’s a comfortable, feminine and full of detail, I particularly like the pleated cuffs with the green and pink trim.
